Youth Quest ILP Frequently Asked Questions
Where are the apartment located?
We have apartments in DeKalb, Fulton and Clayton counties. All locations are MARTA accessible.
What type of apartments do you provide?
We provide roommate style apartments most units are 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartments with washer and dyers in the units.
Who is eligible?
Highly motivated young adults in extended foster care between the ages of 18-20. We accept males and females
Do you accept parenting youth?
Yes we do. We have designated apartments for parenting youth. We accept youth with children age 4 and under.
What are your program expectations?
We expect young adults in our program to have a solid education plan, to obtain and maintain a job for more than 90 days, to save money, and work towards the individualized goals they set for themselves to achieve independence. We also expect our young adults to keep the apartments in good condition and to abide by the program expectations outlined in the participant handbook.
Are youth provided with funds to support their daily needs?
Yes, youth are provided with a grocery stipend 2x a month, a monthly allowance and MARTA cards(as needed).
How long can a youth remain in the program?
Youth can remain in the program as long as they are meeting the program expectations and making progress towards their individualized goals. Placement can range in time for youth between 18-20.
What are the criteria for a young adult to get their own apartment?
n order for youth to move into Phase II of the program young adults must meet the following criteria:
- 18 years old or older
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Minimum of $1,000 saved (preferably 2 months of the rent amount saved)
- Working for 90 days or more
- Making 2.5x of the rent ( by themselves or with a roommate)
- Has demonstrated the ability live semi-independently in Phase I
